SOLOMON RESIDENCE
Massive 200 year old Spanish doors open upon a serene entry-courtyard with its JapaneseZen-like garden and the sound of a meandering stream running through it. Thus begins thart. Designed by Lash McDaniel and featured by him in the “Masters of theSouthwest” edition of Phoenix Home and Garden magazine, this approximately 4300 sf dwelling with separate guest house took 3 years in the planning and 2 years to build.Curvilinear in its entirety with dense battered masonry throughout, the home was virtually shaped and constructed by hand, everything soft, flowing and three-dimensional. Light plays upon the hand-troweled textured concrete walls and fireplaces, all but asking to be touched, to be experienced from different angles. Texture is everywhere, blending with and complementing the union of Contemporary and Southwest architecture, cool, sensual and all enveloping. The negative edge lagoon pool, mountains, city lights and the golf course beyond can be seen from ceiling to floorwalls of glass creating an inside-out living space It is unique in that word’s most beautiful sense and literally irreplaceable, meant only for those very few who will understand its particular beauty and timelessness.
